Problems moving a user from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 (Problems two)

We have some troubles moving user from one exchange 2003 to exchange 2007. We found that “Authenticated Users” was not in the user group Users, on the Exchange 2003 machine.
If the Exchange 2003 is a domain controller the Authenticated Users still need to be member of the user group.

The error we was getting was this:
XXX
Failed
Error:
Error was found for XX because: Error occurred in the step: Preparing mailbox to be moved. Failed to copy basic mailbox information with error: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service could not find the specified object., error code: -1056749241

How to enable out-of-office reply messages to the Internet

By default in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, the sending of out-of-office reply messages to the Internet is disabled. Many administrators do not allow out-of-office reply messages to be sent outside the Exchange organization to prevent unauthorized people from learning when users are out of the office.

To enable out-of-office reply messages to the Internet, follow these steps:
1. Start Exchange System Manager.
2. Double-click Global Settings, and then click Internet Message Formats.
3. In the details pane, right-click a domain name, and then click Properties. (Note By default, “*” is the SMTP domain.)
4. In the Default Properties dialog box, click Advanced, and then click to select the Allow out of office responses check box.
This allows out-of-office reply messages to be sent under this SMTP policy.

Exchange 2003 – Find a email address

If you want to find witch user or public folders that have and specify e-mail address, you can search the Active Directory for it.

    • Open the Acive Directory Users and Computers Management Console
    • Right Click on the domain > Select Find
    • Select Custom Search in the Find field
    • Select the Advanced tab
    • To find the entity with the email address [email protected] for example, enter the following in the LDAP query field:
(proxyAddresses=smtp:[email protected])
  • This will list the entity containing the email address entered.
  • Wild cards can be entered within the email address (*) to return multiple matches.
  • If you want to view all the email addresses within the results list, select View > Choose Columns… and select Proxy Address – doing this in assoication with the query (proxyAddresses=smtp:*@kennethdalbjerg.dk) will give you a list of all entities within the organisation that have an email address, together with all the email addresses they have.
